Top Reviews of Mae Maes Joint
12/23/2023 - Barrett Lee
November marked six months since this local family owned and operated restaurant opened in a former garage that's been transformed into a clean, warm and welcoming spot that's fast becoming a popular place for locals and visitors.
Mae-Maes Joint in Foley serves fresh made to order breakfasts, burgers, sandwiches, and more. It's located at on the SE corner of County Roads 65 & 12 at 8690 Co Rd 65 and is open from 6am to 2pm Tuesday through Saturday and closed Sunday & Monday with breakfast available until 2PM.
I have been there on multiple occasions and have tried quite a few of their menu items as well as brought a number of friends and neighbors and everyone has enjoyed their experience. The only thing that heard, other than praise, from any of them was their eggs weren't fluffy enough. I guess I'm not the only foodie critic but I don't get scrambled eggs so there's that. :-)
What I have gotten is fried eggs, egg biscuits, breakfast platers, biscuits & gravy, French toast,
BLT's, all the meats and cake of the day and everything I've had has been hot, fresh and tasty. They give you generous portions at a very reasonable prices and always with a smile. The
coffee is also good, and I'm picky about my coffee, and there's juice and other drinks available, including sweet tea. Just order and pay at the counter and they'll bring your order out to your table fresh and hot.
I'm not a categorizing the food here typical "home cooking" or "gourmet" but I will call it "comfort food". I know that's kinda personal, granted, because the nostalgia about food, in general, is mostly specific to an individual, or to a specific culture. But as someone who enjoys everything from home cooking to gourmet, and loves cuisine from around the planet, I always leave Mae Mae's pleasantly filled and comforted, so yeah comfort food. :-)
Mae-Maes Joint also has a Facebook page where you can connect with them and see their latest updates and posts of daily specials too.

Coming in 2024 their adding a fry room with lots of new menu offerings including seafood, chicken, fries, okra, and a whole lot more. Don't forget to give them a LIKE on Facebook to keep up with daily specials and news.
On a personal note, It was sad day when a local iconic restaurant, Biscuit King, shuttered its doors in July and, for me, their huge cathead biscuits were fantastic. But alas, the scratch made buttermilk biscuits here are some of the best I've had and are fit for a King. If that wasn't enough to make me a fan their sausage gravy is excellent and makes for the best biscuits and gravy around, so I'm a super fan :-)
Bottom line: If you are looking for a cozy and delicious breakfast and lunch place with good food, service and friendly folks in Foley, check out Mae-Maes Joint. Highly recommended!!
