You've got to try Truman's for the best catfish and hush puppies around. The pickles and onions they serve before your meal are a delicious bonus. I used to frequent this local gem and the friendly staff always made the experience even better.

Love Truman’s. I went as a kid and I took my family there just a few days ago and the catfish is amazing. Burgers are great as well. We’ll be going back!

I've found over the years that some of the tastiest food is to be found in the most unexpected places, off the beaten path and housed in buildings that sometimes disguise the treasures to the taste buds that are hidden inside, and Truman's Seafood and Sandwiches was no exception. My husband is a songwriter, musician and vocalist, while traveling to one of his gigs last night, we discovered, down a country road, this pearl of the palate. The look of the building was anything but impressive, looked like at one time it may have been a house, no parking lot to speak of, several pot holds in the dirt drive leading up to the building, but we were hungry, out in the country with no other eating places in sight. The first clue we received about the awesome food they served was, while there was really no parking lot per say, the somewhat small place was surrounded by vehicles. Not only were we not disappointed, but were in awe of what it held inside. The food was wonderful, generous portions, variety of fresh seafood, homemade slaw and hush puppies and more. Friendly service, we were made to feel right at home, like one of the family, as were the other diners. We'll be passing that way again from time to time, and Truman's will be a definite stopping place. Located on Hwy. 9 (Central Plank Rd.) in between the small communities of Equality and Santuck, AL, if you're in the area, don't pass it by, give yourself and your taste buds a treat.
