There's a cash-only joint up north that serves up mini hot dogs with chili sauce that hit the spot. The menu is simple, so you can expect quick service once you know what you want. It's our go-to when passing through Watervliet for a tasty and no-frills meal.

I have been a fan of Gus's for over 40 years; we are Watervliet natives. I bought hot dogs on the night of Watervliet High School's graduation for 5 people, I bought two dozen. I thought they tasted funny, different. My guests each ate one. That is NOT what usually happens with Gus's hot dogs. I ended up throwing out over a dozen of the hot dogs. I figured it was just a fluke, maybe someone new working there. I bought them again a few days ago, 18 hot dogs with the works, to go. They still taste funny, different. Gus's has changed the sauce, there are no two ways about it: it looks different, it smells different and it tastes different.
I would be willing to pay more for the dogs with the original sauce, but I am not going to waste my money on these. I feel really bad giving a bad review for Gus's, they are an institution in Vliet, but they just are not the same.
This time I am throwing out a dozen of Gus's hot dogs. Such a shame.

This place has been around awhile.Worked in the area back in 2002.It was late,I was hungry.Nose found the place.Prices were lower,but they still are today.Won't break the bank.An experience awaits you.

Loved Gus's since I was a child and still loving the mini hot dogs. I always look forward when spring and summer comes and I can smell that hot dog sent all the way down the block.

Grew up in Watervliet and will not get hot dogs anywhere else because they just don't live up to the food here.
