This store is a treasure trove of diverse offerings, from fresh produce to delicious deli sandwiches and an impressive selection of local products. The staff consistently provide excellent service, making each visit enjoyable and welcoming. Although prices can be on the higher side, the quality and variety available make it well worth the trip for anyone seeking a quick and satisfying shopping experience.

The local store in Northampton, a family favorite since 1967, offers a diverse selection of goods, including prepared foods, fresh produce, bakery items, and a well-stocked liquor store, all provided with exceptional service and a cozy neighborhood vibe.

I love State Street Fruit Store. It's convenient, friendly, and has a great variety of fresh and frozen, gourmet and basic, local (excellent local produce) and non-local, sweet and savory, healthy and "junk"-y, prepared (sandwiches, salads) and scratch items, and even in-house baked food. (Love the desserts!) They hire local kids, which is nice; have great hours; and have stayed open during the pandemic, a huge huge service to those in town.
Two small complaints: They carry some meat, but I'd love having the option of organic and free-range meat, especially in terms of chicken. (The chicken is packaged without information, so I have no idea what I'm buying. Normally I don't buy any meat that's not humanely raised, even if it means paying a lot more--I'm happy to pay more for that.) Also, sometimes the deli-made items aren't marked with what's in them. I recently bought a (pre-packaged) container of broccoli salad, and my husband, who is allergic to nuts (not terribly) ate enough of the salad to get a reaction. Neither of us would've thought broccoli salad would contain nuts, and I don't mind that it did, but if ingredients had been listed, I'd have known not to let him have it.
Finally, occasionally the soup on the shelves tastes very watered down, as if someone padded what was left in the bottom of the pot.
None of these are major complaints for what's otherwise an exceptional small local store. Thanks for all you do for the neighborhood, State Street.
