My wife first introduced me to Pinettas in 1980 and little has changed since then, including the creaky front door, the dark and dusty inside of the restaurant, and the hundreds of straw chianti bottles and beer steins. Maybe it's dark inside because some of the patrons want to be incognito or perhaps the owners don't want you to see how many layers of dust there are. Either way, it's part of the restaurant's charm! Moving onto the food, there are dishes that they do well, and others that are only average. We adore the mushrooms stuffed with shrimp and the sensation salad and most of the Italian items are quite nice including the Chicken alla Cacciatore. They also feature a few German, Turkish, and Armenian dishes and an extensive list of Germans beers and a list of carefully selected wines reasonably priced! We have only been there for lunch and understand that you might have to wait for a table on the weekends. The waiter told us that they offer delicious specials for dinner and we may come early one night. You will never leave the restaurant hungry and after walking out the door you may ask yourself whether you should return to Pinetta's for another meal. The answer, in my opinion, is a resounding YES because the owners have given their guests a little bit of Italy in little old Baton Rouge!
