The food is exceptional, and watching the chefs cook right in front of you adds an entertaining element that enhances the experience. Although the prices are a bit steep for the portion sizes, the quality and flavor, especially the New York steak, make it worthwhile. This teppanyaki restaurant has a nice ambiance, perfect for special occasions, and the fried rice is an absolute must-try.

We love sushi - been to Japan, lived in NY, and regularly dined at James Beard Award winning Uchi & Uchiko in Austin for years. Okawa's signature rolls including the Bend Roll, Jalapeño lover, Sunshine, and Special Yum Yum Rolls are especially delicious and our favorites - better than 5 Fusion in our experience. Even during Coronatimes, their fish has always been completely fresh & flavorful, and they are very generous with portions. Also, recently we had an issue with a mis-delivered Uber Eats order. It wasn't at their fault at all, but they fixed the problem for us with exemplary customer service and were very kind on the phone. I can't wait to go to the restaurant in person and try their Hibachi offerings in the future. We've tried most of the sushi restaurants in town, and this one is the best.

We have been eating at Okawa since you opened in Bend. We live in the apartments next door, so we can walk over. We have been eating there about twice a month, usually lunch. The food and show at the hibachi grill have always been five star quality.
Our last two visits have been disappointing. The show today was marginal. The food today was less than marginal. We always order the filet steak rare with fried rice. Usually the steak is prepared last or at the same time as the vegetables. The last two times the steak was prepared first and was cold by the time we got the fried rice, and vegetables. The steaks flavor was also missing something, didn't taste the same as usual.
With the exception of the egg in the fried, we could have ordered white rice and added soy sauce and saved the extra $1.90 each. The vegetables were okay.
I know your restaurant is new to this area, and you need to provide food and service that exceeds the expectations of all your customers so they will return and recommend Okawa to all their friends and family.
