FUN TREK DOWN MEMORY LANE - in Birmingham,Alabama where I grew up!! - a few years ago.LOL
Mama took us kids to church and then just about every Sunday Mama and Daddy would load us kids up into whatever new car Daddy was 'sporting' and we would RIDE to places far and wide til we wound up somewhere for lunch!!! LLOYD'S RESTAURANT ON 280 was a Favoritel !! From a little girl - til the milestone Sunday after I got my Driver's Permit (at 15 yo) - I got to Drive to Lloyd's !!) LOL.Daddy sat up front with me; Mama sat in back with my two younger brothers -LOL.. We all loved Lloyd's ; Our Family, Our Guests, Our friends, My friends from Hilldale Baptist Church group, right on up to my hubby,Neil- THE BEEFEATER- !! He aLWAYS HAD LLOYD'S BIG HAMBURGER STEAK SMOTHERED IN ONION/MUSHROOM GRAVY!! Through the years travelling with USAF -every time we came home to AL - we went to Lloyd's.
Randy brought me to Grand View in B'ham today. Guess where we ate lunch!!! oh my - it seemed very little had changed (cept maybe the prices.) Randy had Fish Dinner; I had their famous Smothered HamburgerSteak.Dinner. I told our very nice waiter I had been eating at Lloyd's for years and years- probably 30 or 35 years. He told me they had tried to keep the same recipes, menu, settings as when they first opened. OH, IT WAS ALL SO GOOD - RIGHT DOWN TO THE LONG REMEMBERED LEMON ICEBOX PIE !!!! Randy and I got to playing with the numbers -- OMG !! IT WAS OVER 60 -SIXTY- YEARS !!! WOW !!! THAT JUST SEEMS IMPOSSIBLE !!! IF you haven't been there in a while ----GO!
