Charlie's in East Aurora is a staple for a classic breakfast experience that has stood the test of time. The cozy setting, complete with a bustling community "round table," serves up generous portions of delicious, homemade dishes that keep locals and visitors coming back for more.

Been there numerous times and had only one good experience. Last visit, brought granddaughter and 2 friends from out of town. Took long time to get food and they weren't at their busiest. White toast was flimsy and barely toasted. All adults were almost finished with breakfast before they finally brought out my granddaughters waffle. The waffle was hard as a rock. Definitely overdone. Tired of inconsistent food quality and will no longer throw away my money there. Very disappointed.

I was in Charlie's Thursday for a late lunch and all I can say it was a disaster from begining to end. There was four of us and to begin with my friend was given the wrong soup. My other friend and I ordered the opened face prime rib and all I can say about that, that the french fries were good. As for the meat we both ordered rare and were told that they didn't know if it was rare. When brought to us it looked dry like it was under the heating lamp too long. It must have looked that way to the server also because she asked us if we wanted gravy. All said and done, when it came time for our bill we had to wait for the server. It wasen't busy because it was after the lunch crowd if there was one. One of my friends asked for four quarters in change and she was given a dollar bill. As for me I gave the server my money and I was waiting for my change so I could leave a tip and the server came back empty handed and said to me OH YOU WANTED YOUR CHANGE??? Well yes I never told her she could keep it. All things said and done I gave her a small tip and I won't be going there ever again. If anyone asks me I will tell them to stay away.

Oh goodness. My husband and I just returned from dinner at Charlie's - our first time. It was awful. We were greeted after about a minute by the waitress who cheerfully said we could sit anywhere. We found a table but we had my 16 month old son in tow which meant we needed a highchair. I did a quick scan of the dining room and spotted a stack of high chairs but they were blocked by a table and a diner at that table. I would have had to disturb him to pull one out. After about 5-10 minutes of holding my son, the waitress returned asking, "Oh. Did you need a high chair?" Ummmm...yeeeah. My husband and I ordered fish fry and french onion soup to start. Our dinners arrived without the soup and my husband had to ask if the soup was on it's way. "Oh, yeah" stated our server - she obviously forgot. Our dinners: fish was good. My husband's mashed potatoes were cold and worse - because we could get sick - our mac salad and cole slaw were warm. This was not the kind of warm where one's plate had just simply heated a cold item. It was the kind of warm where the slaw/mac salad was probably just sitting on ice (if that) in the back - it tasted room temperature. The French onion had arrived a short time later but was also just warm and seemed to be prepared in a hurry. When the waitress returned my husband invited her to test potatoes to see just how cold they were and mentioned slaw and mac salad were warmer than potatoes. He also brought her attention to the temp of the french onion. She apologized and simply said "I'll get you some brand new ones" (mashed potatoes) taking away his plate and soup. The plate came back first. A fresh plate with more *warm* mac salad and a new warmer side of mashed potatoes. When she had taken away the plate, my husband hadn't touched his cole slaw (for obvious reasons) but the new plate didn't have cole slaw (not that he wanted it, but). "Sorry - we're out of cole slaw" is all she said. The soup came back a total of 8 minutes later. It was the same bowl of soup only much hotter. 8 minutes to heat soup that was probably popped in the microwave? There were very few people in the dining room at this point so it's not as if they were shorthanded. I few smaller complaints were that we had to grab napkins off other tables since we only had the two our silverware came with (fish fry friday and no napkins on the table???), and I never did get a straw for my water even though she went back for one. Ugh. If I thought it would have done any good, I suppose I would have spoken up about our overall bad experience to someone else there - but no floor manager or manager of any kind seemed to be around - just three servers on the floor and kitchen staff. $35 of hard earned money gone. My husband and I drove home still hungry and hoping we don't get sick.

They used to have delicious homemade burgers...They were delicious...I recently went in and got the burger but I could tell something was different...It didn't look the same...I cut it in half, and it looked compressed...Any ways I bit into it, and was completely repulsed....It tasted like a combination of chemicals and dog food...I told my gf that this is not a homemade burger, and that it was frozen.....When I asked the waitress if it was frozen, she said "yes it was...The owner decided to go frozen because the price of beef was too high"....It was gross, I suggest that you do not get this burger....Anyways we also used to enjoy their breakfast as well until one day I got a breakfast sandwich that was totally dried out...no butter on eng muffin....egg was supposed to be overmedium and it was completely cooked so bad that it couldn't be cooked any more...Also the hashbrowns were hardly cooked and tasted like a boiled potato....When I let the waitress know about the sandwich being overcooked, she said "Last time you were here you complained about the burger"......I guess you are only allowed one complaint there....IShe was very rude, we did not leave a tip, and will never go back to Charlie's again. I will say that one of the waitresses was very nice....but this one was one of the rudest waitresses I have ever seen in my life....She definitely should no be waitressing....
