Dom's has closed down, but there's talk that the family will be opening a new restaurant called Butitta's at the old Jillian's location on Neil in early 2009, according to a phonebook ad. They mentioned keeping some old favorites on the menu while introducing new dishes. Keep an eye out for Butitta's! An iconic establishment has sadly shuttered its doors, leaving a void in our hearts. Rumors swirl that it may resurface in downtown Champaign, along with other popular spots. The anticipation builds as a banner outside signals the imminent opening of the new venture, now hiring servers.

Was the best Italian food I ever ate!! Bar none and I mean nothing like it in Chicago, Now York or the like. RIP Mr. & Mrs. Buttitta!!

The late great Dom's had excellent Italian food in an atmosphere that was like eating is someone's dining room with 50 other people. It was like what Olive Garden calls itself but for real, not a corporate slogan. They closed after mama passed away. One of the brothers is resurrecting much of the same menu as Buttita's in the former Jillian's on South Neil. Any time real soon.
