Recently reopened in February, the Channel Inn in Fox Lake offers the best food in town with a nice relaxed atmosphere. The menu features delicious flatbreads and a secret Mexican menu, making it a great spot for lunch or dinner. The cozy, hometown feel combined with friendly staff and generous portions at reasonable prices create a warm and inviting dining experience that I can't wait to return to.

Compare to the old channel Inn, It really has gone down hill. Even thro the chef is the same. A lot has changed. The sauce that use to come on the smothered skirt steak, was used in mushroom and blue cheese appt. And than not on the skirt stead. Taco salad served cold but burnt and soggy. Because the lettuce in the bar has water in bowl. It should be drained before putting out. The fish was great. I will try it again in hopes it's better. Hope it's not a let down. It use to be great.

My family is very particular when it comes to satisfying our hunger. On a cold night in December of 2009, we got off the train in fox lake and decided to go to The Channel Inn (Comfort Food-as stated on their sign drew us in!). Fantastic!!!!!! If you have ever stopped in some local restaurant in the middle of nowhere and were completely blown away this is it. That night as requested per our waitress, we had Meatloaf. Better than any I have had at any top rated steak house in Chicago. The salad bar was great and the homemade soups, are the best. I have frequented numerous time since then and recommended to tons.
Roasted Pork, Chicken, Beef Pot Pie, all deserve major recognition. It feels like being on vacation in Northern Wisconsin, and the food is all freshly made.

My Dad and I went to this restaurant late yesterday afternoon. He was recommended by someone he met in Fox Lake about the phenomenal walleye fish fry they had there. Plus I read two reviews that raved about it, too. So we drove an hour and 15 minutes to check it out. What a HUGE disappointment!! The breading on the fish didn't even look like it had been placed in a saute' pan or fryer. Possibly baked?? And it was obvious that the fish had been frozen, because now the consistency was MUSH! Very disappointing. We had high hopes after the soup, but not after the fish. Also, I have never seen potato pancakes like we were served. Very thick ... you might think that's a good thing?? Nope ... neither the fish nor the potato pancakes had any seasoning. The overall meal was terrible and we won't be back. Maybe the chefs have changed since the last reviews??
