We went on a Saturday night, expecting great Italian food as per all of the reviews on the internet as well as Zagat.
We had the spiced apple soup as an appetizer...although it was good, it would have been better presented as a dessert course. I ordered the Hunters Cannelloni and my partner ordered the Veal Valdostino. Both entrees were very disappointing in taste and quality of ingredients. The cannelloni were filled with sausage chunks that seemed to be burned/reheated/leftover, then used as filler, the veal and beef mostly were inedible and ended up in the napkin, the ricotta completely unseasoned and tasteless. The veal was overbreaded, the size of my palm, slopped with a spoonful of tasteless ricotta, a slice of proscuitto and some sort of thick fried bread slice (menu said eggplant) served with a side order of pasta with marinara sauce (basically coarsely chopped plum tomatoes and I had to remove the core on several chunks) ...this for $26?????? ...topped with 'famous bolognese sauce'...insipid pureed tomatoes. We skipped dessert.
I think the chef is tired, serving a tired menu with tired ingredients. We do not mind paying top dollar for top quality food and preparation : we have been to roadside diners that served better food than this 'top rated italian restaurant'.
NOT RECOMMENDED
p.s. Forgot to mention the bruschetta and salad served with the meal (better off without them) : 1 thinnnllly sliced piece of grilled bread, topped with 1/2 slice of tomato and some garlic. The salad was a sad sad handful of greens with 2 black olives, 1 cherry tomato cut in half and 1 little marble size ball of mozerella. Gimme a break!
