On a chilly New Year's Eve evening in Detroit, a friend and I visited this beloved BBQ spot that has been a neighborhood favorite for nearly 30 years. Despite the holiday rush, we opted for 4 pounds of rib tips, BBQ fries, and 2 pounds of shrimp as they were out of Slabs of Ribs. The Pitmaster's skill was evident as we watched the ribs being loaded into the smoker, emitting a tantalizing aroma that stayed with us even after we left. This place has been a staple in Detroit for 56 years, known for their charcoal pit-smoked ribs, rib tips, chicken, and secret recipe fried shrimp - we're already planning our return for the chicken and shrimp.

I was happy to hear that Vickies's was open again. Was disappointed that nothing has changed. Terrible service, not enough workers on hand, don't take orders on phone, for people who are unable to come in and place order. Does not live up to information that was posted on Facebook. Definitely need to bring the old sauce recipe back 🤬

It used to be THE place to go for REAL BBQ, cooked on an open pit grill! Not anymore, the ribs are old and stringy, the sauce is no longer as tasty as before. I used to always get extra sauce on the side. Under new management-- you should have bought the sauce recipe and the meat vendor's number, and the former cook.

It's not the Vicky's that I remember over the years the barbecue was burnt the shrimp was over fry and old, French fries were tough and the barbecue was very salty very disappointed what I had and I was unable to finish it I threw the rest out

Worst ribs I've ever had. Taste like they change their sauce and the ribs were dry, hard and old tasting. Never again!

I have been coming here since I was 16 I am 60 now and this place has fallen off so bad ribs are tuff and sauce taste nasty. I will never come back tried to give it a chance but the last 4 times was all a waste of time and money
Another historic place gone to the dogs😡

Vicki"s has the worst bbq in the city of Detroit. I didn"t form this opinion from just one visit. Vicki"s was the sugar honey back in the 90"s.. WOW!!!! I went there three different days mo apart.. I thought, maybe the cook was having a bad day. NOPE!! Watery lemon juice sauce that covers, tougher than leather burnt meat. I can"t even explain the fries... Shame on you Vicki"s.

I ordered a slab for holiday & boy was I disappointed! Just discovered under new management. Nothing like it use to be when I worked over that direction. Use to look forward to picking some bbq up during lunch hour with co-workers. Wish I knew about new takeover before stopping by there. It was awful.
Ribs were overcooked & too chewy (tough). The meat had bare smoke flavor like cooked in oven using "liquid smoke" flavoring. The Sauce was Horrible....it taste nothing like it use to years ago; it's impossible the same recipe is being used!! No way!! The sauce is like a grainy texture of tomato purí©e with vinegar in it...just nasty & not to my liking. Won't be going back Ever!

Very good food a lot of times I order without sauce because the sauce taste like it has to much ketchup; however, the meat is excellent.

I've been frequenting Vicki's since the early 70's. I have never stopped going there. I am now 70 years old and I still LOVE their ribs, chicken and shrimp. The cooks and servers are just as Awesome. My family is grown now but when I mention Vicki's, they get so excited with mouths watering. Thank you Vicki's.. 🤗

Whole lots of fat under the blackness. Very best friend recommended your place hear good thing from customer waiting. 20 minutes to order 20 minutes to receive. The fact that you took $25.97 for food that is not worth eating is shameful you had to have seen how black that meat was. LESSON LEARNED never again.
