The origin of Marcus dates all the way back to 1929 when Charles Marcus invented the original burger in Detroit. In the city's spirit of innovation, he built an enormous grill In the center of his diner. He stamped the burgers into a rectangle, then sautéed the all steak patty to fit inside a hot dog bun, thus forming the iconic Marcus Burger

Celebrating 90 years and counting, this restaurant is a Detroit gem. They have a unique hamburger that has been made the same ways since 1929.

I just want to mention that the legacy still goes on as my daughter just brought the hamburgers to mind as she remembers her grandfather (my dad) who was a Professor at Detroit College of Law got the recipe from Charles' nephew Eric and made them at home; thus the memory of my daughter. I too remember them and YUMMMY. Thank you for keeping them going. Memories are WONDERFUL.
