For over 26 years, La Fonda's has been a cherished part of my life, with consistently delicious food and a reliable staff that makes each visit enjoyable. I always look forward to indulging in the Fajitas, traditional tacos, and a Margarita whenever I'm back in the area, and the generous portions and friendly service keep me coming back.

Living near La Fonda's for over 26 years has made it a cherished part of my life, thanks to its consistently delicious food and attentive staff. The Fajitas and Margaritas are personal favorites, and I always look forward to enjoying the generous portions and authentic flavors every time I return home. With a family-owned atmosphere and great prices, it's a must-visit for anyone craving excellent Mexican cuisine in the Verde Valley.

The worst rudest owner/hostess I have ever encountered

My family has eaten at LaFonda in Camp Verde for 40 years. We enjoy the authentic home cooked food and friendly atmosphere. The management and staff do a remarkable job keeping the menu fresh and the establishment clean.

Best Mexican food in Camp Verde

One of the best Mexican restaurants I've been to. The LaFonda's in Flag is very good also but I think this one is better.

I love la Fonda Because the food is New Mexico style not Mexico style...That's the food I grew up on....

Well, ever since I moved to Flagstaff, all I ever hear is how great La Fonda's is. Since I have lived in Mexico (the Baja) and Phoenix for most of my life, I have tried many, many Mexican food restaurants. the thing about Mexican food is there is a HUGE regional influence, so the same dish can taste very different depending on where you eat it. My tastes run toward the Baja style, so central Mexico style isn't my favorite. That being said, here's my take on La Fonda's. I've eaten at the Flagstaff one several times and thought it is decent. The one in Verde Valley isn't even as good as that one. Nothing to rave about by any means. To me it is no better than the drive up taco stands in Phoenix and the food Tastes pretty much the same. It isn't even nearly as good as the average high-end Mexican food place there. I mean, there's dozens of places in Phoenix the blow it out of the water, and Mexico? Forget it. There's restaurants there where the food is to die for.
So, my advice is, la Fonda's is pretty much run of the mill Mexican food. BUT, for Verde Valley? It is one of the better places there.

Went to eat there cause the La Fonda in Flagstaff is the bomb! tamales had bad taste, a fly landed on my sons tostada and was stuck in the beans. The waiter never offered to replace it and pretty much called us liars. the beans were cold. ( i noticed this when I removed the fly from his totasda) Terrible service ( except for the busboy) food pales in comparison to the one in Flagstaff. Seems like they are worried about cost instead of quality. Want good food at La Fonda? drive to Flagstaff. Just Google them, they are located on 2nd st

We are semi-regulars, usually friday evening with a couple of the grand children. We love mexican food and have been known to drive 40 or 50 miles to our favorite restaurants. The food at La Fonda is always good and the staff is always friendly and helpful. Much better than Su Casa. Of course we don't drink, maybe that would change things.

Friends had recommended this restaurant and we could talk of nothing else driving back to Cottonwood--how awful it was. Ambience didn't exist. It was crowded, with tables so tightly packed together and we thought maybe we'd have to sit with another family. The server was impatient waiting for us to order so we started off with our favorite, Margaritas. They were undrinkable. We have the exact same Margarita glasses at home, you know, with the saguaro stems, and they were NOT 16oz as listed in the menu. I came home and measured--they were only 12oz. Everything was bland. The beef taco was lukewarm in the middle, the pork tamale tasteless and inedible, and the cheese enchilada with not a hint of spice. The beans tasted like they were directly from a can. The chips were hot and crispy and the salsa decent but had to ask twice for a refill. We also had to ask for extra silverware as there were 3 of us, not 2. For 2 adults and one child who ordered off the kids' menu, $40. What a ripoff. If anyone wants a great Mexican restaurant in the Verde Valley, drive out to Clarkdale and go to Su Casa. For the same price, you can get some amazing food, nice ambience, and the best Margaritas imaginable.
DON"T GO TO LA FONDA!!!!!

Typical "old time" Mexican restaurant atmosphere, us southwest natives really appreciate that ambience. The food is as good as it gets! The beef tacos and cheese enchiladas are my favorites. We don't live in Camp Verde so we always plan our travel when La Fonda is open.
