Went there with friends last night. Having lived in Germany for four years, and tasted many of their famous foods, my schnitzel was sliced very thin into two pieces and breaded with gravy. The meat was not good I took two bites and that was it, the meat bordered on rancid. The spazeile was thick noodles, in clumps. Appetizer what was Brie, Was a breaded and fried piece of cheese. No bread. This is the second time I've been there, and the last.

Sandra's is one of Southwest Florida's best kept secrets! The delicious food, friendly wait-staff and fun atmosphere keep us coming back, regularly. You will be disappointed if your visit to Punta Gorda doesn't include a trip to Sandra's, especially on Rouladen night (Thursday). Call ahead for the special...they run out every day!

We are locals in Punta Gorda and took friends to Sandra's. The meal was good. Service was average, nothing bad, but nothing extraordinary. Trouble began after our bill was settled, when waitress returned to our tables to ask us if "everything was ok with with our meal". When we said yes, she explained that the tip we left was not sufficient. We tipped 15% of the entire meal, including beverages and tax. She informed us that 18-20% was expected.
I asked to speak with the owner. I could see the waitress talking with the owner who was in the kitchen. Instead of being concerned about why a customer would want to speak with her, she was visibly unhappy that she had to talk to me. The owner told me that the waitress questioned the tip we left and was instructed by her to return to the table to essentially shame us into paying an additional tip.
This was an inappropriate, embarrassing situation, condoned by the owner. As a result we (and our guests) will NEVER return to this restaurant. All over a dollar or two..... Perhaps the owner should take a refresher course in what the Hospitality business is all about. Then she can train her staff properly on how to deal with situations that effect HER business.
I have eaten at the finest restaurants all over the world. I have NEVER had such an embarrassment or negative experience in my entire life. The owner is European. Europeans are generally among the worst tippers. Many do not tip at all or leave just a few dollars on a hundred dollar meal.
No wonder this restaurant is hurting for business. I will ensure that I spread the word about how we were treated. Punta Gorda is fortunate to have many very nice restaurants. My advice, eat elsewhere!

Great atmosphere;
Worst service in I've received in my 46 years of life, 4 tables seated after me that were served before I got my food. And the food seemed to have come out of a frozen dinner box. They are guaranteed to never get another visit from me or any one I know.
