It was a very unpleasant dining experience we would like to shake off from our memory.
We were visiting the beaches yesterday and drove by the Fishhouse. We thought we would give it a try. We are from Annapolis, Md, therefore brought our certain expectations to the Gulf seafood.
We were in the restaurant ground a little after 8pm. The outdoor setting looks lovely. However, the hostess told us there was no available table outdoors for about an hour. Since we were pressed on time, took her suggestion of an indoor table although we saw empty tables on our way in. Everything went downhill from that moment.
We were sat at a dark corner that is hard to make out the menu. We ordered what we could make out, crab cake and butterfly garlic shrimp and hope they would prove the claim of the restaurant history. The crab cake came as if the chef lost a part of it while turning it over during cooking. There were about 10 thin slices of pepper/onion in the plate, looked as decor instead of for eating. The crab cake was disappointing, small and partial with no crab meat visible. We are used to Maryland crab cake with lumps of meat and found this embarrassing if it was form the Gulf. Our shrimps were overcooked and too salty. They were both small in portion, more suitable for children.
I wanted to point these out to our waiter but he was no way to be found. There was no filling of our empty water glasses. After about 10 minutes, we just wanted to finish it and get out. Then came the check.
We know the cost of each order. We can say that our meal was not worth the cost for sure, both in quality and quantity. We were charged for entertainment, which we could hardly hear and could not see due to our seating in a dark corner of another room. We have never known that live restaurant entertainment would be charged. Maybe this is Florida thing. There was charge of cash discount. I assume we were charged because of credit card use. None of these charges were explained to us before posted. We could've paid cash if explained.
At the end, the waiter hurried to bring our requested copy of receipt and disappeared.
We left with upset stomachs, not because of the food, which was little to fill the stomach anyway, but because of the entire experience.
We wanted to post it for others to see. We hope there were reasonable explanations.

Our entire experience was awful. The host said he had an hour wait when we arrived. Once we waited and received a text that our table was ready, a couple that had just arrived walked up to host stand and the host made special accommodations to get them right in. Our order came out one item at a time and had to wait 10 minutes after we each item before other parts of order came out. I hated giving my money to that sorry place, we won't be back.
