Rack and Helen’s Bar & Grill was founded in 1972 by Erwin “Rack†Rekeweg and his wife Helen. In 1973, John “Pat†Anderson got his feet wet in the bar business and partnered up with Mr. Rekeweg. Their partnership lasted for several years, but as Pat and his wife Myra began to focus on family life they made the decision to sell Rack’s.
In 2000, when they decided to purchase Rack’s again, they knew this time they would need to focus on delicious, high quality food in addition to cold libations.
Great food, great service, and an inviting friendly environment propelled Rack’s into a busy hangout for New Haven’s locals and others from surrounding communities . In the beginning, the kitchen could only accommodate two employees; dishes were washed by hand and busy days meant serving 30-40 lunches.
As business continued to grow, it was apparent we needed a bigger kitchen and additional seating. Rack’s has since done two expansions and the small bar that once sat 85 people has now been completely remodeled with a state of the art kitchen, seating for 200 on our main floor, and 140 in our banquet room. The joining of the Anderson’s son, Wes, has also brought many new and innovative ideas; including overseeing the major expansion of 2008, streamlining our processes to increase customer service, and the expansion of our catering operations.
As a family owned business, we strive to have an atmosphere that is inviting, friendly and fun! We pride ourselves in our delicious food, awesome drinks and superb wait staff that is second to none.
The Anderson family is excited for the future of Rack’s and look forward to maintaining and creating new lasting relationships with our customers.

Rack & Helen's offers a fantastic selection of bar food and drinks with exceptional service. The sausage roll and variety of wings make for a great dining experience.

Wont be back. Food is boring. Its expensive. If you want Bandidos, mexican for old white people. Just go to there.
Servers never stay long enough to actually become proficient. Drinks are a touch over priced. But not done with any flair or thought. Its just a jack n coke. Or a budweiser.
Boring. Service is mediocre at best.
Foods tired.

Food is great. Beer is cold. Service has an attitude. We used to be in love with Rack & Helen's and now we are not returning. We gave them three chances. Hopefully the owner's will be able to get the top notch service back!
