If you're in the mood for authentic BBQ, Purvis is where you want to be. With 50 years of perfecting their craft, the vinegar-based sauce is a standout, and the Brunswick stew is unlike anything else. Every time I visit, it takes me back to my childhood, and I always leave with a few pounds to savor later.

This is simply the best BBQ you will ever eat. Purvis is legendary in this part of Georgia, and people like me with with family roots in the area will drive from Atlanta to pick some up. My brother came from Cleveland just to get some.

Have been eating barbecue from Purvis' for more than 45 years. Haven't lived in Wadley (10 miles from Louisville) in 45 years, but, you better believe that when I come to Wadley to visit, I'm taking 20 pounds of their barbecue home with me. It's that good. Have never had any better!

The owner and son are both very nice gentlemen and always kind, friendly, and polite. They are very good at their jobs. They food is the best in the south and the country. Try it you will like or love it.

My post is in response to the 12/06/19 post that states the owner is guilty of sexual harassment, etc. This is a totally false allegation. The owner is a very nice guy that treats all customers and staff with respect. That post sounds like a disgruntled ex employee. The BBQ is excellent, and the owner is friendly and appreciates all of his customers!

worked in Louisville for 15 years and ate there every week. go back and get the bbq and stew when ever I'm close to them. best BBQ and stew any where.
