03/03/2015 - Good Old Fashioned Cooking!
My wife and I met an old friend for lunch at Lee Boy's BBQ last week. The atmosphere was a historic storefront, with a high pressed tin ceiling, and a combination of booths and mismatched tables and chairs. If you're used to fine restaurants in big cities like Atlanta or Augusta, you probably won't like the simple atmosphere, but if you're from a small Southern town like we are, you'll feel right at home. Lee Boy's has a pretty sizable menu for a small restaurant, all focusing on good old country cuisine. Of course, we made the 40 mile roundtrip for BBQ, so the decision was easy. All three of us had the "BBQ Plate" that consisted of chopped pork, two sides, a drink (in our case, sweet tea of course), and two slices of white loaf bread (brought back memories of my grandma's table). A selection of three BBQ sauces (sweet, hot, and mustard based) was already on the table in plastic squirt bottles. The three of us varied on our side selections, but the fries, coleslaw, potato salad, and Brunswick Stew were prime examples of good old fashioned country cooking. Serving sizes for the $9.00 plates were adequate enough for us to forget any thoughts of ordering desert. When we finished eating, we sat and socialized for a while and our server made it a point to keep our drinks refilled. Lee himself stopped by our table a couple of times to get our take on the food and thank us for coming in. You can tell he's the real deal, a country boy doing what he enjoys, making good BBQ. We will certainly be back!

Lee Boys BBQ is about as good as good gets. Friendly service, AMAZING food, and that environment that makes ya feel just like you're at home. My family goes every Friday night and cant seem to get enough of the catfish, tilapia, shrimp, hamburgers, chicken tenders, and my favorite the hamburger steak. Lee Boys recently started serving steak. Ribeyes or T-Bones, 22 oz or 16! A 22 oz for ONLY $22! They will do everything in their ability to make sure you leave happy!
