My favorite hidden lunch spot in downtown Houston is a cafeteria-style joint that's super convenient for downtown workers. The line can get long, but it moves fast and the efficiency rivals Chick-fil-A. The menu has some solid options like shrimp etouffí©e, red beans and rice, and carrot cake, all at really affordable prices. The place is always bustling, but there's usually a spot to sit down and enjoy your meal. The food is consistently delicious and the staff is friendly and efficient. It's my go-to comfort food spot downtown.
