The food is flavorful and the service is efficient, making for a satisfying dining experience. With generous portions and a friendly atmosphere, it's a popular choice for family dinners and takeout after a day of activities.

I wish I could rate this restaurant higher but I have to be honest with myself and others.
As a customer, for the most part, I got everything with a good attitude and correct. This time was different. Both of us in the past generally were nice to each other, but today we were treated as if we did not belong there. It started off from the get go and just declined from there.
They don't have a one star because their food was good, but they messed up on my request with the sweet and sour sauce. I still tipped them, but I regretted doing so. This will likely be the last time I will eat from their place. I know where other Chinese places are and they will get my business from here on out.

This is technically a review of their Rathdrum location, not the Kellogg.
Anyway, I've always enjoyed my meals here. Their General Tso's Chicken (General Tong's on their menu) is quite enjoyable, the Kung Pao chicken is very good as well. All off their shrimp dishes feature a good deal of shrimp that are quite fresh and decent sized. The sauces for things like the sweet and sour dishes are obviously made there, I've been in Chinese places where one could tell they are using a jarred sauce, but not at Wah Hing. I love their fried rice, always quite fluffy and flavorful. The one minus I'd say is that their spicy dishes are on the mild side for spicy. I'm far from the sort that is into things like eating whole habanero's or ghost chili peppers but I do find their concept of spicy to be slightly mild.
As an aside, is this "Americanized-Chinese" cuisine? Yes. Does that make it somehow less valid if it's not the "so called" authentic? No. Good food is good food, period. I've had Chinese food that at least claimed to be closer to "Authentic" to a cuisine found in a Chinese province, and although I enjoyed it, it doesn't mean I'll snub my nose to this food either.
Or as a friend of mine whom is half Chinese put it "I'm Chinese, and I still like this sort of stuff as well".
05/29/2014 - Good Food
This place has unexpectedly good food for being so remote. The service is mediocre and unfriendly and the decor is subpar but the food is very tasty. Good for me my main concern is taste. I wouldn't go here for a special occasion, other than that I love this place. The orange chicken is excellent.

My wife is Asian and when she has had just about enough of my cooking and can stand no more...(even though she never complains, I can tell) Then we go to the Wah Hing and all is right again. Very good people. They have saved me several times from having a home sick wifey, plus they have great food and lots of it.

I travel all over the country and still have not found a Chinese restaurant that I like better than Wah Hing. Great food!

if you have ever actually had quality Chinese food, don't go here.

This is the first review I have ever written.I felt I needed to respond to the bad review I just read. My family & friends have eaten @ this restaurant for many years & NEVER had a bad meal!!! I dine there about 20 times per year! Yes there is a language barrier, but they truely try to serve & are very nice. The food is authentic & very good

Had the Sichuan vegetable over rice for lunch at Rathdrum today. Good wholesome food but a completely Americanized bore.
It should suit the locals here just fine, for if they ever had any really good authentic Chinese food they would turn their noses up and immediately tell the chef how to "improve" it.

I agree with you Sally. I also think it's small minded of Marianne. Wah Hings is an excellent place to eat. The best around for miles in both directions! The wait staff is also great! And they can speak english.

Wah hing is lovely! I enjoyed every minute of my experience. I ordered the crab puff appetizer and died because of it's heavenly goodness. You can tell that they take pride in their food with their presentation. Everything is so colorful..in a good way of course. Marianne I find that quite small minded of you to just assume that no one speaks english there. The server we had was a cute petite asian girl and she spoke fine. I am definitely going back and I am inviting you all to join me!

I love Wah Hing's restaurant, one of the best Chinese food restaurants in the Spokane / Coeur d Alene area. They sure know how to cook good Chinese food and the portions are generous!

We live in Hayden and used to have to drive all the way to Kellog to get good chinese food. Now we can go to Rathdrum which is less than 10 miles away. The crab puffs are the best I've ever had. I recomend this restaurant to everyone I know.

Just visited Wah Hing in Rathdrum, ID. They just recently opened after making a pleasant looking renovation of a previous restaurant building.
The place was jumping with customers, the service was exemplary and the food was delicious! Fresh, prepared to perfection and there was plenty of it!
A fabulous dining experience for all in our party of four.
I live in nearby Hayden and will make the 10 mile trip there regularly for the best Chinese in Kootenai county.
Nice for the locals in Rathdrum to have a wonderful ethnic restaurant in there home town.

Avoid this one - terrible Chinese food: Greasy and doughey fried dishes and unappetizing. I went there the other day for lunch and neither wait persons could speak English.
Even thought I pointed to the correct lunch dish, they brought me the wrong combination and instead of the $6.95 lunch dish, they brought a huge dinner dish and wanted to charge me for it.
I quietly left, leaving payment on the table. One of the wait person came after me and I still couldn't understand what she was saying, but it seemed to be about more money so I gave her two dollars more and was happy to escape with suffering food poisoning from eating the food.
