Located on the shores on Payette Lake in McCall, ID, Alpine Pantry is the sole organic market and restaurant within 100 miles of Boise and beyond. This little gem takes the Farm-To-Market concept pretty seriously with over 40 vendors supplying the Pantry/Market side of the business and the Kitchen pulling from the Market to create amazing breakfast and lunch dishes!
The brain child of owner Gabriela Hess, Alpine Pantry is in its 4th year of partnering with the community to provide local and regional organic products from sundries and toiletries to meats and cheese. The organic milk is delivered 3x per week and even come in old fashioned glass bottles. The chocolate milk is the best I have ever had!
The cafe sports a nice arrays of fresh baked goodies, often featuring gluten free products as well as fantastic coffee and tea drinks from the friendly baristas. The breakfast menu is bomb - with build your own omelettes, country bread french toast and organic oatmeal and fruit...even smoothies! Everything on the menu is organic, as is the Pantry's kitchen. Lunch features wraps, sandos and soup and there is always a daily special ready to make your month water.
The Market also has a great beer and wine selection and the Pantry has 3 taps flowing tasty microbrews nightly. Often local musicians liven up the joint and rock on till midnight on the patio.
I can spend hours enjoying a mocha while enjoying the lake views, friendly staff and free wi-fi. It's a great place to chill and enjoy great food. I always cruise through the market before leaving and find a few goodies to take home with me. Check it out! The candy section is just like when I was a little kid with penny candies in glass jars! Yum!
