I live in toledo ohio now i lived in Burlington iowa and gulf port illinois .my dad passed away in the hospital in Burlington iowa forced us to come back home to toledo ohio .he was there for champion sparkplug job that shut down in toledo ge was transfered
we lived there from age 5 to 14 years old i was at the time .i have a family of my own and husbend .i am always begging him to bring me back to iowa to visit the gators grill & spirit .this is one of are favorite places to go growing up and a memory with my dad .love this place miss it allot .i remember waiting to be seated at the time and looking at the gator they had there they had 2 over my time going there for are sunday and Friday dinners out sometime mondays lol. I would give anything to just come back to Burlington just to eat at the restaurant again .i would drive that fare to get there just to eat there again .the food was great and big amount's

Love,love,loved this place.What a great place to eat. I ate mussels that where so tender,yum.My husband had prime-rib that was out of this world. The staff was excellent.This is a must try if you are in Burlington!

My son was taking me out to eat for my birthday and when we arrived at Gator's in Burlington, Iowa I was ecstatic to have both kids with all grandkids and a girlfriend there. It was wonderful, but ruined. We had eleven adults sitted at two tables, but the owner reluctantly added a fold-out table. Our appetizers arrived fresh and hot and that is where the good ended. It took an extremely long time to get our meals and we had to wait for drinks to be refilled throughout the night. When the food arrived we still had dirty plates from the appetizers on the table. Nobody received hot food, even the rib eye steaks were only warm, but the staff didn't care. Making a complaint on the way out only irritated the owner, but we guaranteed him that never again would we have a family gathering at Gator's.

We were at a wedding in September in Burlington.
My husband and I are from Marengo, IN about 8 hours away.
My husband's brother was getting married and he works for Pepsi. He told us to eat at Gator's the highlight of my husband's meal was not the prime rib he ate which was good but the bean & ham soup he had with it on Friday night. Saturday morning when we woke up in the motel he told me to call the restraunt and ask if he could buy a gallon which they did not have he wanted to share it with his mother and dad that day.
I came home and I cook for a living tried to recreate it but couldn't he is still talking about the soup.
Awesome enviroment and awesome meal.

My search for a meal that included the fish Grouper had been going on for better then a year, when I seen the chance too have a Grouper meal at Gators, I really jumped on the opportunity an too this day I have not forgotten the size and the and the way the large portion of Grouper was prepared, My own fish is now fixed in the same fashion, however my cooking could not touch theirs.
