02/24/2013 - former employee
I left because of the peanut gallery ( managers). John has no life & stopped taking his meds when the chick dumped him. I know her twin sister & she told me he stalks her. He is there 24/7. He is looking for a girlfriend. Yes, lives @ home in the basement. No, he is not all there. Yes, I have seen him run female customers off. All the regular customers & the whole staff knows about his habit of sitting in a booth, checking out
the female customers. Working or days off. Dude needs counseling. I can't believe a business would keep him. I guess the working for free a lot is why. Ladies, I would not dine there if I were you.

I am shocked @ the reviews. I just moved back to the area & decided to read the reviews for some of the local Resturaunts. Service is slow, food is blah, management is poor & they have a pervert working in there about sums it up. Try new management, improving the food & making sure your entire staff, whether it be kitchen or servers are doing their job. The most important thing is customer service! Make sure they have a nice experience. After all, that is the entire staffs duty! I would say get rid of any employees who are not all there! That John guy sounds like a mental case. He should be history. He is a definite liability!

We had a late lunch the first part of the week. The place looked like a ghost town. We decided to sit @ the end of the bar. The bartender was nice, our drinks were not bad & the food took too long. When my husband excused himself to go to the restroom, I noticed a very strange guy wearing glasses with a brown coat on in the take out area, looking at me. I started watching tv & continued eating my meal to then see the same guy standing outside the door, facing the window, smoking & staring at me. My husband returned & as I was telling him about it, I was pointing to him, as the bartender approached to check on us. He looks to see what I was pointing at & says oh, that's just John. He works here. He is like that all the time. We payed & left. That was disturbing to say the least.

I eat there 3-4 times a week. All the staff & managers know about John & his behavior. He was demoted from bartender to server because he left & went to work for AT&T. He was fired from there for giving cell phones to customers to try out but they never signed a contract. He returned to Chili's but they told him he could pick up shifts as a waiter that was it. He does occupy the Resturant on his days off & when his shifts end, hangs out or he stands out by the take out door smoking alot. Alot of females are turned off by him & his actions. The waiters & us regulars have said one day he is going to loose it & maybe shoot up the place. He acts the way he does partly because he was dumped by a former waitress a while ago. I guess we know why huh lol. It has happened many times. I think management is scared of him. Do you blame them? I think it's wrong & by the reviews posted & comments made in the place. Most people find him odd, errie & a little nuts. He is hurting their business. I go for the drinks (current bartender is awesome), food & games on the tube. I do think that is strange behavior should not be overlooked. My opinion as a professional.

I just moved to Madison from Dallas Tx. My sister was in town for her birthday recrntly, so I decided to take her to Chili's to celebrate. Our service was disappointing but the food was pretty good. We were sitting in the bar area @ the high tables enjoying our drinks, that is until we noticed a guy sitting in the corner booth, with his back to the wall. He was looking right at us. I glanced a few times to see if he had stopped. Each time he was looking right @ us, drinking what looked like a beer just a grinning. I heard one of the waiters say, hey I thought your shift already ended, what are you still doing here, Tom or John? We were so unnerved, that we skipped the Molten Cake we both love. I guess Buffalo Wild Wings would have been a better choice! That will be my choice from now on!!

I took my wife for what I thought would be a nice dinner. I was wrong. We waited 15 minutes for our drinks, when we finally got our meal, my food was cold. While we were waiting on our food, I noticed a guy sitting in the booth across from ours staring @ my wife. He just sat there tapping on the table, seemed very nervous, drinking a beer & not eating. We requested to speak to a manager. As we were leaving, we told her about our dining experience. The response was...sorry about that, giggled & walked away to return to her conversation with a waitress. We will not be back anytime soon!
11/10/2012 - Disgusted by this
I have had 4 bad experiences in a year's time. All by the same person. I have an employee who sits in a booth by me & stares at us. Keep in mind my child & my self. Then when we leave he gets up. I have been told ths is his normal behavior. He does this on his days off also. His name is John ( tall white guy with glasses, looks crazy & has shaggy hair) all the servers tell me. The female ones are creeped out by him & the male ones say he is on medication. He was demoted from bartender to server. I have complained to servers, managers (General & District as well) still nothing is done. I have 4 detailed complaints on file @ the home office. He should be fired & banned! A former mgr has witnessed it & a couple of servers. They hsve a high turnover of mgrs. I can see why. If you are a female & bring a child with you...beware of the creep!

Had a takeout order. In takes someone 5 min to notice me. I ask for some extra sauce. The manager handed it to me and seemed to she didn't give two cents that I came in. Didn't say thank you, come back to see us, have a nice day, nothing. They need to learn some customer service. You wont see me come back.

The service in the place is horrible. The Hostess was lazy and you couldn't understand a word she said. The menu was sticky and the tables and seats were wet. We will never go back.
