The previous reviewer obviously has some personal issues. Don't be afraid to leave your name. I've been eating at Orange Tree since it was at the Regency Mall down by JCP. Can't beat it. They're doing something right to be in business for over 40 years. I'm going right now to get my chili/cheese/slaw dog!

Just to let you all know that the Shawn S. that keeps putting up postings about this so called wonderful restraunt is a guy that, I have heard, works for the corporate store of Orange Tree. Don't ever eat at the Baymeadows store because that is the corporate store and they are just down right rude and horrible people. Also don't ever buy into the franchise because they basically tell you how to run your bussiness and you have no say in anything that you do.

In response to Mike on 11/26 about the cold buns, Mike I have now eaten at both places, Hot Dog Shack and the Tree and the Hot Dog Shack has it man.. Sorry. I also wanted to note that your comment on 11/26/08 about the cold buns is very similar to someone else that keeps posting negative about the Hot Dog Shack and glowing reviews about the Tree.. That persons name is Shawn S. All of the other review sites Urbanspoon, BOTW, etc have Shawn posted with that comment, call it fishy, but could you not be the same person? It does appear that the comments are very close and Shawn S or Mike, whichever, handle you are using appear to possibly own or at least work at the Tree in WalMart on San Jose? Any how, people are smart enough to figure out what is going on. As an avid blogger, I just cannot stand when one "self promotes" themselves as you Shawn S are doing for the Tree. Let people make their own assesment. Hey if the Tree is that good, then no need to worry about posting negative adds against your competion...

Mike, I am going to have to disagree. It sounds as if you were the unlucky person to get a cold bun at the Hot Dog Shack... These things happen in restraunts from time-to-time. The Orange Tree Boils (not grills, deep fries, or steams) their Ball Park Frank. If I wanted a Ball Park Hot Dog, I would go to Publix and buy them. The Hot Dog Shack uses Sabrett or Vienna Beef, a very high end hot dog. They also offer you a variety of menu items. Can't get fries or O rings at Orange Tree. Sorry about the cold bun, but that is your opion.

I disagree with the review mentioning Hot Dog Shack. Orange Tree is by far the better Hot Dog spot. Not only are the toppings at the shack terrible, but the buns are cold & old. Orange Tree has the best Slaw and Onion Sauce ever. No one can beat it, and the buns are always warm The shack only wishes they could have something that tastes that good. Go to anyone of there JAX stores and see for yourself. Orange Tree Hot Dogs are the best.

I have tried the Orange Tree and later found the Hot Dog Shack. The Hot Dog Shack was better... They not only have great food, they also deliver... I just wish they had other locations. They currently have the one store on San Jose across from Jiffy Lube/Taco Bell.

Correction to my last ratings. In comparision to the Hot Dog Shack This above would be more accurate for the Orange Tree.

The Best Hot Dogs in town. Now they have 6 stores open around Jacksonville, with more coming. I can get my dog fix more often. The best dog is the Slaw / Onion Sauce Dog. GREAT CHOICE!!!!
