I grew up in Russell and finally had the chance to try the food at JJ Restaurant. The baked steak was delicious and I can't wait to bring my family here next time we're in town. The home-cooked meals remind me of my mom's and grandmother's cooking, and the friendly staff make the experience even better.

Johnnie Justice was a friend of mine, we talked often at work, Johnnie had another job where he and I worked together plus he owned JJ's. I always got great food and service there but the last few times it was surprisingly slipping. The last time in several months ago we were past over by waitress several times, we sat for some time. Workers looked at us but none approached our table or offered service, we got up and left and they watched us leave. No call for such rudeness we are a family no reason for it. Going to go back one more time this evening, Hope the problems have been worked out because if not I sadly won't be back.

We had been regulars at J and J's for years. Even though their service has been hit and miss, their food was good, that is until this past Sunday, 9/11. We ordered the specials and they were terrible, don't know what was going on with the cook, but it sure wasn't the same food we were used to getting; and even though they were not busy, we still had to wait quite a while to get waited on. Our waitress even saw us come in, but she continued to sit in one of the back booths talking, while we sat and waited, and waited. I don't like to post bad reviews, but hoping the owner takes notice, before they lose anymore customers.

foremost, the service is great, if your not a local you wouldnt understand. the food is fresh and prepaired daily. the below comment is not worth its weight!

First off, the customer service was deplorable. the waitress we had was totally rude. and the food was cold and underdone. and it tasted like a gallon of salt was poured onto it. needless to say, we left it there. being nice and not wanting to say anything, we piad and was going to leave, when we were informed upon leaving, it was cash or check only. good thing i had my checkbook with me. only after writing the check, i realized, that she asked for no ID. talk about careless. i could have stolen anybodys checkbook and wrote a check. a check over debit? which is safer, come on. this place sucks!!!!!!
