Perhaps Jana Barbay eats @ McD's too much--Pig Stand always delivers the best Cajun food hands down. The staff are pleasant & efficient, prices are fair--Try it, you'll enjoy the experience.

I'm not sure what happened during Jana Barbay's visit, but I'm sure there was a good reason, like a failure of equipment, delivery issues, etc. This place has been around since my dad was a kid (at least), and has never failed to deliver delicious "local" food. It isn't 5 star gourmet French restaurant material mind you. This is a Cajun diner... and that's the level you should expect. Yes, you should get the day's special... there's a reason why it is the special. They also have a store that sells local favorites - pork rinds, tasso, boudin, ponce, rice dressing (dirty rice), etc. They ship overnight all over the country, packed in dry ice. WORTH IT, if you really want authentic Cajun food.

This was by far our worst eating out experience ever and I don't say that lightly! We visited the Pig Stand for the first time on Sunday, August 30, 2009 at 1:00 PM. I ordered a steak and was told after our order was put in that they were out of steaks. My husband ordered the fried chicken and we were told a little later that they were out of that too. He changed his order and was told that he couldn't have yams as he requested because I got the last scoop of yams. I ended up with the pork roast which was almost gray in color and was extremely tough. My field peas
never arrived...but they took it upon themselves to substitute canned corn which quite frankly ended up being the best thing on the plate. My candied yams tasted good...but were ice cold..no exaggeration. My rice was literally a mushy lump of yuck and inedible. They couldn't even cook corn dogs correctly. My daughter's came out too dark but raw and doughy inside. I will say though..that our fried okra appetizer was scrumptious, but not a reason to ever return. The prices are good..$40.00 for 4...but I'd much rather eat at McDonald's. Hands down the worst experience ever.
