My take on Fratelli's-- the best place for pizza and pasta in east St. Tammany, maybe in the whole parish. Done italian style, without overindulgence, for flavor and authenticity. Excellent house rolls come with the meal. The calzone and stromboli (a sort of Sicilian calzone, looking like anything from a giant pouch to a volcano) are immense, as the panuozzo we had in Italy last summer. (A panuozzo is sort of like a calzone, a pizza crust folded over and filled with what you like!) Fratelli's has a good selection of domestic and imported wine & Italian beer (Peroni-- unfortunately not my favorite, Moretti, but it will do) My wife's favorite dish has been the Chicken Diana-- with a really good pink sauce, while I like best the first dish I ever had there, the frutta di mare-- fin and shellfish over pasta with a cream sauce that was not too heavy. The pizza, stromboli and calzone crusts are excellent. The only complaint I've ever heard about Fratelli's is that the mussels aren't fresh. Maybe, but that hasn't bothered me any.

Fratelli's-- not a family name, it means "brothers--" great food and authentic Italian liscio music.
