This BBQ joint in Bar Harbor is a must-visit! The food is finger-lickin' good and the atmosphere is lively with a side of family-friendly charm - plus, they're right next to a mini golf course and an ice cream parlor that's to die for. It's a meat lover's paradise with a twist of fun and flavor that'll leave you coming back for more.

We stopped in with our granddaughter after playing some mini golf at Pirates Cove across the road. Must say that the ribs and pulled pork were an A+. We have been to some great rib places, including Memphis and Texas but the food here is just as good and the prices were great. 1/2 rack of ribs with beans, coleslaw and potato salad was $11.92. If I had known that the food was that good, I'd have ordered the full rack. The service was OK considering the young lady was the only person on duty. We will go back again.

Very disappointed with this year's experience at this restaurant. Every year we vacation on MDI and every year we've eaten at Mainely Meats. We won't be going back. The waitresses were annoyed when I enquired when our order would be ready after I saw that 3 tables that had come in after us were already eating. I have 3 kids and it had already been about 45 minutes since our order was taken. I got no answer as to why it was taking so long and no offer to go check on it - just attitude that I'd asked. When we finally got our food, my sandwich was over 1/4 fat. It was gross. Between the bad service and bad food, we won't be going back. My advice - save your money and go elsewhere for some local cuisine (lobstah!).

My wife and I spent our honeymoon in Bar Harbor. I expected to eat incredible seafood the entire trip but was very disappointed that the selection at Red Lobster was more impressive than many of the restaurants we visited. However, on the last day we found Mainely Meat and I was immediately transported to "meat utopia". The pulled pork and the ribs were awesome! I have never had better! Everything about the place was terrific-the food the staff and the outdoor dining. I can't wait to return.

It's heavily seasoned, dry-rub barbecue, so it won't be to everyone's taste. But the meats are long smoked and incredibly tender, the place draws a great crowd, the staff is very eager to please, the price is right -- and the beer is fabulous!
One gripe: They're a little inconsistent, like whoever is doling out the spices doesn't measure too carefully. I've found things oversalted sometimes, undersalted others...
But I live nearby, and I'll keep going back.

I am from the South where we know Pork BBQ and brag about it BUT I must say what Steve Douglas pulls from his smoker is close to the best not only pork ribs & pulled I have ever put in my mouth but the beans, corn, sausage and side sauces are also great.The grilled smoked chicken wings are the best I have ever had... If you are in Bar Harbor on a Saturday in season you should not miss the all-you-can-eat"Big Feed". Not only is the price right ($15ish) but the atmosphere is without equal. On the site of Atlantic Brewing that invented the first and still the best Blueberry Ale, and the best selling beer on the island "Real Ale" it also makes a fantastic old fashion Root Beer which Mainely Meat makes a dreamy Root Beer Float... Don't miss this gem!

Mainly meats is casual, friendly, the service and staff excellent! The ribs tender and delicious, falls right of the bone!!! Sit outside and enjoy the weather with a cold beer. Rick, thank you for all your advice, every place you recommended was amazing! Best time I've had in a long time!
