During my recent trip to visit family, I stayed at Oak-Mar Motel and Restaurant in Oakland. Although the rooms are a bit outdated, they are exceptionally clean and provide a safe environment. I plan on returning to Oak-Mar whenever I am in the area for its affordable accommodation and classic diner-style dining experience.

Stopped by this motel while traveling north, sightseeing, along 219! Ask the owner about Deep Creek Lake, he answered my questions then suggested I see Swallow Falls State Park. What a beautiful park. I do a lot of traveling and I have yet to come across anyone more informed of their area than this owner. The rooms were clean and comfortable, very nice family restaurant, Wendy's Towne Restaurant, on site.

I've stayed here 3 times and each time I've been met with a friendly staff. At 59.00 a night I really do not have great expectations. A plus is the family style restaurant onsite. Plenty of parking, there are 2 levels so if you have issues walking up steps you should say so when you book a room. Deep Creek Lake is 7 miles away, Swallow Falls State Park is 8 miles away. Great staff, inexpensive place to stay in a resort area!!!

My family has stayed here many times over the past few years. We have always had great service and a clean room. We love knowing the owner is on site and works hard to be sure we are satisfied with our room. Given he has a strict no pet policy I fail to make sense of the last review!!! We'll definitely be back!!

My room had a strong odor resembling that of cat urine. The air conditioner did not work. Door has very cheap thumb lock and i did not feel that my personal belongings were safe, nor did i feel safe. The blanket on the bed was dirty and had cigarette burns. I began to itch once on the bed and suspect bed bugs. I would sleep in my car before going to this hotel again. I will NEVER stay in this dump again.
