Happy New Year! I had a delicious lunch at my favorite Italian restaurant in Havre de Grace, MD. The food was tasty and the customer service was great. The portions were generous and the staff was friendly and attentive.

Initially in April 2023 was our 1st visit to LA Cucina because of a gift certificate and let me say every thing THAT Saturday evening was incredibly perfect, and we thought how great it was that we now have a great place to dine out. Sarah the waitress, the service, the meals,the apps, drinks and dessert , and Tony the manager were great. SO......based on that experience, it only made sense to plan my husband's 65th birthday ,there on June 15th. I made reservations and explained it was a special birthday, and even planned a surprise dessert at this time. Well, first we were sat in a different dining room ,and waited at least 20 minutes before a straight faced, angry looking waitress" JEN" showed up, took our order, and barely spoke,unless you asked a question .She also waited on other tables with the same attitude.About another 20 minutes she returned with our sodas and a half of bowl of soup,and took our entree orders. THEN, a fireman ,his wife and young kids came in and got seated near us....And it was like the sky opened up and the sun came shining through. Suddenly, "JEN'S" attitude completely changed, she was smiling, and laughing and another waitress was there also and catered to this family like they were celebrities, even Tony the manager was at their beck and call, while everyone else waited. My husband kept saying " where is our food,I'm starving?" Finally..after 45 minutes of waiting ...the entrees were delivered by a bus boy, and to make a bad situation worse, the very expensive entrees were cold! WOW, so much for a special birthday dinner. I am sure that dinners were left sitting while staff ( for some reason) were showering the fireman's family with attention. When we told "JEN" the dinners were cold she rudely offered to " get us another meal. Are you kidding me, after the terrible service, you want us to wait even longer while you put these $35 meals in the microwave ? Tony the manager came over with many excuses, my husband was angry, I was upset, and my husband said " I'll reheat it at home, I just want to get my check"! When they pushed for dessert, I told my husband and the manger about the pre-ordered surprise birthday cake slice , so hubby reluctantly agreed, and said bring the check too. And then they made us wait another 30 minutes for them to bring a cheap slice of pound cake with a little scoop of sorbet, and 4 of them started singing happy birthday. What an unbelievable ,unprofessional cluster ***k. I couldn't believe things could have gone so wrong.

Take wifey out for lunch got to say it was delicious great service and the deserts was number one highly recommend if u like Italian
