My recent visit to the Continental on Route One in Saugus was a pleasant surprise after many years. The lunch menu offered a variety of seafood dishes under $18, and the daily soup, beef vegetable that day, was hearty. The dining room maintained its retro elegance, and our waitress Penney's 40 years of experience shined through, making our dining experience truly enjoyable.

Been coming here since the 70s. But this week we learned they will no longer be including a soup or salad with the meal. Nor is there a vegetable. So a steak and a baked potato was it.
At the beginning of the meal they brought their bean dip and crackers, hot rolls, a popover and a hush puppy.
Those + the potato made for too carb- heavy a meal.
They said the prices were too high now.
Yet there are 2 restaurants close by them that have good food for less money, that give you salads. More casual, but still very good. Given the prices at The Continental, we ould rather go elsewhere where we can get a complete meal.

I went there last night the food was absolutely fantastic!!! There was a duo in the lounge the girls name was Jill Anthony. WHAT A VOICE!!! She said they would be back New Year's Eve ...
