I visited with a family member while on vacation last Tuesday. The greeting was very flamboyant and over the top. While waiting for our food we could hear staff continually and very loud. Our food arrived with hollandaise sauce that was not blended or warm and hash browns that did not have a touch of brown on them. There was not a refill of drinks. When checking out I mentioned the problem with the hash browns and got no reaction or response. My guest resolved the issue with ketchup in great quantities. After being outside all day doing touristy activities, we were starved and disappointed with our choice.

I have been having dinner at the Breakwater several times a week for over three years. As a result I have seen good and bad service, great food and terrible food at times. The servers for the most part are friendly and alert although recently I have been experiencing one woman when she waits on me seems to be an inconvenience. With this server I have to wait and wait until I finally have to get up and ask her for more coffee or for a small desert that I often eat. For the first time a few nights ago I did not leave a tip because she totally ignored me although the restaurant had only a few people and a couple of servers. No excuse. The next night she couldn't do enough to please me, and I left a larger than usual tip hoping she'd get the message. Tonight, same thing, chatting with co-workers and ignoring the booths with only a few people again. On the other hand every other server does just fine. No complaints especially one young server who chats a little, asks how I am, and presents a cheerful environment. The food varies depending on the cook. Sometimes great; other times not so much. Crisp bacon means crisp, not burned and curled up like a pile of ashes..

Breakwater is a decent restaurant in this area. The only problem is that it's always a guess on the food because some cooks are better than others.
