The barbecue joint in Zeeland, West Michigan is hands down the best. It's a 10-mile drive from where I live in Byron Center, but totally worth it. The Char Sampler I ordered was a delicious mix of Ribs, Wings, Brisket, Pulled Pork, and Pulled Chicken, all with a side of pickles and Pickled Slaw. The atmosphere is like an old Western Saloon, and the food speaks for itself with pure and high-quality flavors.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE American Char! Pulled pork is amazing! I love the mashed potatoes as well!
Their #15 Kentucky barbecue sauce rocks! Love it so much we had their pulled pork served at our wedding reception.

After reading all the 5 star reviews , had to try this local restaurant. I tried a sampler with two meats and sides. I thought the meats Brisket & pulled pork were very tender with a nice smokey flavor. The sides sweet slaw and mac & cheese were sad to say the least. The slaw was anything but sweet and Ive had better Mac and Cheese from Kraft. Also thick white slice of bread came with the meal.
American Char has their meats down to a science but the side dishes lack taste and luster. I may give them one more try and will let you know what I think.
