On a recent trip from the cities to Fargo, I had the pleasure of visiting this charming cafe twice in 24 hours. The cafe exudes a cozy atmosphere and is manned by a team of welcoming staff who offer excellent service and delicious food at reasonable prices. This will undoubtedly become a regular stop for me and my companions on our future journeys through the area.

Charlie's is exactly half way from from Northfield to Fargo-Moorhead. We've stopped there for lunch for many years. Service is fine. Freeport is located in the ethnic German area of Minnesota, and Charlie's menu and clientele reflects that. The sauerkraut soup is great, when available. Fresh cinnamon rolls deserve mention. Charlie's was the prototype for the Lake Wobegon Cafe. Nearby one finds the Swany White Flour Mill.

Charlie's was one of the best restauants i've been to in years. They provided a great atmosphere and with great foos and service. It was trully a great expirence.
