At this local cafe in Bartlett, Nebraska, the concept of social distancing seemed as rare as a unicorn, and masks were as scarce as a needle in a haystack. After visiting the Herb Mignery bronze sculpture garden, we heeded Bob's recommendation and dove into the Friday rib special at the Bibs & Boots Cafe, where my husband just managed to snag one of the last orders. The ribs special was a steal at $9, offering a tantalizing plate of 8 bbq rib bones, scalloped potatoes, peas, and bread, while my humble hamburger, priced at $3, came with a side of pickles and potato chips. The burgers were hand-pattied and grilled to perfection by a seasoned cook who also happened to be the cafe's owner, working her magic within view of the cozy dining area. The service was prompt, with our server recognizing regulars by name and ensuring our water glasses were always full. Despite the lack of social distancing, the cafe exuded a warm small-town charm that made us feel right at home.
