Top Reviews of Europa Inn & Restaurant
04/20/2024 - Marlene R.
I recently dined at Europa, a remarkable restaurant that stands out among the numerous establishments I've visited in the past decade. The ambiance was delightful, the service was warm and attentive, and the culinary creations by Chef Ritter were truly exceptional. From the exquisitely dressed warm asparagus salad to the delectable smoked salmon with cream cheese on cucumber and the fabulous Bay of Fundy scallops and steak entrees, every dish was a delight to the taste buds. I highly recommend indulging in a dinner at Europa and perhaps even extending your experience by staying at the accompanying inn on your next visit.

We ended up making a reservation as we were referred by another professional.
When we called, we informed them of the plates we wished to order, but the Chef said there was no need.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by the two female friendly staff and seated.
We ordered:
1. Smorgasbord: Pasture to Plate sausage sampler, Smoked Cheddar, Brie, pickled fiddleheads, pickled radishes, roasted honey garlic aioli, rhubarb chutney. $13.00
While this was an interesting description, the plural should be removed as it does not apply to what was served.
The cheeses were cold, and the radishes to vinegary.
2. Steak: Beef tenderloin Steak, Sauce Béarnaise, Roasted Baby Potatoes. $35
Ordered this medium and received two big pieces of steak hard as A rock and not seared -basic step. The Béarnaise was liquid, served on top of the meat, and swimming in a brown sauce that covered the whole plate, this, even though I had asked the waitress if the Chef really knew how to make a Béarnaise before ordering, very disappointing, particularly in light of the price! A simple starting Chef would and should know how to prepare meat, particularly if it comes as hard as a mad cow!
3. Lamb Shank: Slow cooked Pumphouse cream ale and Crosby’s Molasses braised lamb shanks, mushroom risotto, garden vegetables. $27.00
To add insult to injury, I literally felt sick shortly after! It was horrible, and I can’t imagine how anyone, let alone a Chef, could ruin such an easy piece of meat. The Risotto was an absolute joke, swimming in a brown sauce that covered the whole plate and salty as this review- though this review is well merited!
After the meal was served, the waitress NEVER came around to ask how it was, nor if we needed anything. Furthermore, even when we finished our plates and put them aside, we had the time to complete our overpriced mediocre wine – the selection is as flawed as the rest in this place and not selected to be paired with the food served. We had to wait for the waitress to come around and ask us how it was, and I mentioned to her precisely what is discussed here.
This restaurant, waitress, and Chef - term that should not be used for this guy and restaurant are avoided at all costs. This restaurant would NOT survive one week in a big city or with anyone that knows anything about food and cooking!
