For the last 36 years a girlfriend of mine and I go out to dinner once a year to celebrate our Feb. birthdays. Upon a co-worker's recommendation, we decided to try "The River" Restaurant. After looking at the menu & talking with the server we each decided on this delicious sounding dish of shrimp wrapped in puffed pastry stuffed with ricotta & topped with a sherry cream sauce!!!!! Oh!!! My mouth was watering...I couldn't wait!! We ate our salads (which were delicious) the bread was awesome!!! The server returned to let us know the shrimp dish was not available....NOT because they had no shrimp, the chef informed the server that because it wasn't prepared in advance it was too time consuming to make!!!!!! HELLO....it's on the menu!!! It was 5:30pm on a Wednesday. There were 2 other tables with people at them...who already had their food!!!! What is the chef there to do??? So I ordered a filet which was not seasoned or marinated....very bland....but it was cooked perfectly...rare. Leftovers were wrapped, bagged & brought back & placed in front of us. When I got home I had my friend's leftovers!!!!!! UGH!!!!!!! Not happy!!!
