We wanted to sit outside by the porch and were sat promptly. An elderly man and a little girl about( 5) sat next to us. About 6-8 minutes went by and no waitress came to our table. A few minutes later I asked two different waitresses if she was our waitress and they said no. In the next second the huge umbrella came right out of pole , flew up and came crashing down. I immediately went over and grabbed the pole and to see if the little girl got hurt.The umbrella points were inches from her face. The manager came over and said they could move and they closed our umbrella for fear of it might happen again . Now 12 minutes in I ask the busboy, " do you know who are waitress is?" He said he'd find out. With that I said something's wrong to my husband and said let's go to the bar( the restaurant was packed) He was such a grump because he hates bars and was so hungry by that point. No thank you from the staff for jumping in and grabbing the umbrella and no sorry for the confusion about who and where the waitress was suppose to be. Wow . Tell your manager you read this

I had not been to Kubel's in years. We went this evening just wanting an early-ish dinner and to sit outside enjoying the final daylight of this gorgeous day. Dinner was incredibly good. I had the seared tuna which was cooked not a second past rare, with some fantastic wasabi sauce and seaweed salad. We ordered a side of the best cole slaw I've ever had in a restaurant. My husband ordered what i would describe as a crab pot pie-also excellent. So very glad to have another option here at the north end of LBI, and so very excited to return to Kubel's soon!
