I enjoy shopping at Robert's for their fresh produce and unique selection of items. The convenience of having this store close to home is a plus, although the prices can be a bit steep for regular shopping. Despite the higher costs, I do appreciate the quality of certain items like the boiled seafood and ready-to-eat foods offered at Robert's.

I have been shopping at Robert's for years; especially their Salad Bar. Several weeks ago, the restrictions on prepackaged items, in the Salad Bar area were lifted and things were back to normal; $7.99 a pound. Well, when I went today 5-19-2021, to buy a salad, they had the boiled shrimp separated into little containers and are now charging $12.99 a pound. That's a $5.00 a pound increase in one day. I spoke to the store manager and he assured me I was wrong; the shrimp were just like the rest of the Salad bar; $7.99 a pound. Well, when we went back there, he looked as surprised as I was when he saw them at $12.99 a pound.
A salad bar employee, named George came out and verified, to the manager, that they had indeed raised the price of Salad Bar Shrimp to $12.99 a pound. I looked a George asked this question, "Is Roberts trying to overcharge their customers in the salad bar area, when boiled shrimp in the front of the store are $7.99 a pound." He nodded "yes," in the presence of the store manager. I truly cannot believe his response. When the store manager gave him a stern look, he said, "I mean no."
The manager tried to justify the difference in price, as the ones in the back are pealed. Several times, in the past when there were out of shrimp, at the Salad Bar, employees have told me they were thawing shrimp out to boil, meaning they arrive pealed and probably from China.
I left with no salad and went to Breaux Mart where their shrimp, fried catfish, and boiled fish are $7.99 a pound. Roberts appears to not have any compunction charging customers $7.99 a pound for lettuce and other greens, however they want to ensure that their customers will not benefit from a single reasonably priced item in their Salad Bar.
