The owner and cook exude warmth, making everyone feel right at home within this historic establishment that stands out amid the newer businesses around it. I savored the double cheeseburger, which melted in my mouth, and the ambiance, complete with friendly staff who went above and beyond for my toddler, made our visit truly enjoyable. Despite the casual dive bar feel, the burgers here are among the best I've had, complemented by excellent beer options and a laid-back atmosphere perfect for unwinding with friends or family.

My wife and I went and the way everyone looked at us made us feel very uncomfortable. My wife is from another country. They would never take our order, just ignored us. This is simply a redneck place with ignorant staff.

Granted its not a highend joint, but thats the charm!!!!!
LOVE the hotdogs with "green chili"....My favorite!!!
Beer is cold, fries are good....
Price is right....We live on Emerald Isle and try to get to the Royal James ATLEAST. 4 times a year....
Consistently delicious!!!!

10/21/2014 - Nasty Waitress TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE
We came here because we were hungry and we saw the pool tables in the window and thought it might be fun. As soon as we walked in we were made to feel not welcome. The waitress with the nasty long dreads treated us as if we ruined her entire night. We asked for a pool table and we were ignored. Then we asked for some food and she told us that she was not going to serve us because we were being belligerent? I've never been treated this way in my life. Trust me, I was not in any way belligerent. IF having to ask her several times if we could get a pool table because we were being ignored is belligerent, so be it. I will never step foot in that place again! I left in tears.
