Well I have to admitt I haven't been to the Shark Bar in awhile because I moved to away but I remembered what it used to be and reading the comment from the last patron, I was quite shocked to hear that things have taken a turn for the worst there. I was a frequent patron of the Shark Bar. The food was always EXCELLENT and the service was always friendly and warm! The waiters and servers almost new me by name, and I planned to come back to the City to get me a "fix" but after reading a patron's experience there one evening I have to admitt that I's esitant to spend my hard earned dollars there! Wow I'm devasted because that was my hghlight of visiting teh NY. Tsk, tsk what to do??????? I'm left perpeplexed!

Never before have I experienced such a lack of professionalism and courtesy from an establishment that's supposed to be focused on customer service. After putting our names on the waiting list, we sat down at the bar to wait for a table--we were told we could expect a 30 minute wait. The bartender was, at best, unfriendly and inattentive, but we certainly didn't want to let her dampen our mood for the evening. We were starving so ordered an appetizer to tide us over until we could be seated. Unfortunately, the soul roll was nothing but a glorified hot pocket, except less tasty. We should have opted to just stay hungry. Hunger would have been more satisfying than the boiled rice inside soggy pastry that is this restaurant’s signature appetizer.
After 60 minutes, I checked in with the hostess to see how much longer of a wait we could expect. She curtly informed me that she had removed us from the list because she saw us eating at the bar. She never asked us whether we still needed to be seated (the place is tiny so I'm not sure why she couldn't take the effort to walk the 10 feet to where we were sitting to confirm that), but just took our names off the list! Admittedly, she did give us a two second, insincere apology and seated us five minutes later. Unsatisfied with what we considered an insufficient response, we requested that we speak with the manager so we could express how dissatisfied we were with her service. The hostess rolled her eyes, declared that she was the manager/owner and then turned her back on us ... after replying "Oh hell no!" (as ghetto as she wanted to be) to our request that she attempt to make some type of amends to us for the poor service. I half-wish I had done something dramatic like thrown my watery cosmo in her face, but I refused to let myself go there. In the end we were so dumfounded by her rudeness that all we could was walk out and vow to never again spend our hard-earned dollars in a place that treats its customers with such utter disrespect. NEVER AGAIN will I patronize the Shark Bar.
