The food here is delicious with generous portion sizes at a great value. Despite forgetting my soy sauce, the flavors from the combo were so good I didn't even miss it. The service was impressive when they drove out the missing gravy for our dish, making it worth a return visit.

We've been coming here exclusively for 20 years, because the food is good, the owners take care of their restaurant and the staff (family) are always pleasant and welcoming. They are a local restaurant, family owned, which means a lot to us.
But, I'm afraid it's time to think about moving on. We saw Green Lake through the Pandemic, coming and speaking through the plastic, wearing masks, and using wipes after signing receipts. We understood that the prices were higher then because of the difficulty getting food, because we saw it ourselves.
But, their prices have continued to rise, 3-4 years afterwards, even though the market has settled down. It feels like every time we come, which is usually every week, the prices are higher. Sticker shock has definitely gotten old.
As local customers, I think we deserve better. We aren't the only ones that feel this way, looking at the reviews, there's lots more customers who are tired of the prices constantly rising. There are plenty of others that don't fill out reviews.
I would hope that Green Lake, a local restaurant will consider how much of their income comes from the local area, and not price themselves out of the market.

Normally I wouod score your restaurant much higher. I love your food, but the prices have been skyrocketing! I can understand during the pandemic, but why now? The menu attached has large chicken dinners at $8.45 and specialty at $9.45. Today it's $11.50 and $12.50 for the same dishes. Maybe this menu is severely out of date, but I can remember prices more reasonable just before the pandemic. Is the pandemic just an excuse to keep raising prices, even as all the loyal customers kept coming to them during the pandemic when restrictions were lifted enough for pick up and delivery.
We used to get more than just 1 dish, pre-covid. Now, that's about all we can afford to do on a semi-regular basis.
We've been coming here for over 25 years, since we moved in the area. Being a local consumer, I would hope you would want to retain your loyal customers, plus gain more. Word of mouth is a big thing now, especially with social media sites like Next Door, which is your target customer base. And I've seen the question come up over and over, "where is the best local Chinese restaurant in the Painesville area?" There are some people who say Green Lake, but not as many as I would expect. Being a restaurant that banks on the local customer base, (not franchised), I would think that those customers would be your number 1 priority.
Remember, you aren't the only Chinese restaurant in town.

I door dashed and the food got here very quick. The noodles were amazing!! +5 stars. The rice did not have much flavor, but after you add soy sauce it tastes amazing. -1 star.

Food is always great. Fresh, huge portions & reasonably priced, if not inexpensive. Guy on phone works everyday of the year & although he may be "short" and to the point, he never makes a mistake & in person he is actually quite nice. Gotta remember while ur on phone ordering, there are others calling trying to do the same, there are people walking in to pick up & pay for their food & the time it would take to carry an order to your car, he may be missing 5 potential customers calling in to order their food.....just saying.

I like the food because they have some great choices for vegetarians, however, the owner who takes your order probably should go back to 101 courses on talking with customers .
He's pretty rude and seems upset when you have a larger order. Isn't that what an owner should want to be able to stay in business ? One would think so.
I also asked if they could bring out my pre-paid order out to my car bc I have two small children with me . He said he would ONLY if I tipped him??? Seriously , I just ordered 40.00 worth of food and would of been glad to leave a tip, until he insisted on it.... It literally would take 1 minute to bring out to me
Grumpy owner but his wife is very pleasant and happy to carry out my order ...

The host answering the phone was extremely rude, cussed about the amount of food being ordered and, demanded to know why we had to order so much. Apparently he hates money, so I hung up and saved him the trouble, and so should you.

person taking orders was rude and nasty. don't do business with people like that. support small businesses that are actually nice to their paying customers. In this global pandemic where small businesses are fighting to stay open, to treat customers poorly is one of the most stupid things in the world. NEVER AGAIN

Dont know what is happening at this place, used to be my favorite. I get the sweet and sour chicken it is so crunchy you cant eat it and chicken is tough. Yesterday I got some that was so greasy that the cardboard box was full of grease so imagine what the chicken was like. Im just saying its really to bad I use to love it

Ordered shrimp egg foo young with $2 extra shrimp on the side with fried rice. I order on the side bc when you make a delivery order you never see the extra shrimp. Food arrived and all 3 patties of my egg foo young were burnt. Called for replacement along with more fried rice. Initially the fried rice is $1 up charge. Ok no problem. They called back to say we had to pay full price for the fried rice bc we weren't paying for the egg foo young. They said it wasn't their problem that I'd mixed my rice with the burnt stuff. We told them to keep it all and we'd never order from them again if they needed to squabble over the price of fried rice. 20 min later doorbell rang. We didn't answer.

August 22, 2015, WE ARE STILL OPEN! Thank you to the guests that had come and try our food! We had this restaurant opened for years. Rarely, you will see us close for the past few years. We even open on holidays, 365 days through the year. On July 14 2015, we had a ceremony held at New York and the restaurant was closed that day. And continue to open regularly on the next day. We are hoping to see support from the enduring guests and so as the temporary ones to report the issue that google mistaken Green Lake was close permanently. We hope to see this issue resolve as soon as possible, we do not want to miss out the great customers who loves our food. I have contact google business and they do not open till Monday. Eat here often because they deliver. Only rated a 3 because sometimes its awesome and occasionally it's not that great ( little greasy). In general though, good value and doesn't all chinese essentially taste the same? Would recommend
