04/09/2021 - Dale
This is Dale with a follow-up to my previous review. The kielbasa was no better this year. Gave it to a few others for Easter & all agreed with me that it had high fat content, not like the lean product of years ago, had no taste of garlic whatsoever & the casing was like plastic. What a shame as Mr. Kwiatkoski worked so hard to gain a good reputation.
As an aside to what I have said, a friend who works for a grocery store told me the meat dept. manager had stopped ordering the kielbasa due to its current inferior quality. He said it was disgusting. What a shame. Time to go back to the old recipe???

I too grew up in Hamilton on Gage Ave. Thus I grew up eating Beach Rd. Kielbasa & went to school with Kwiatkoski daughter. I used to drive to Hamilton from Welland to buy it for a # of years. Now Sobeys has it. This year I paid $13 a lb. It has so much fat. Garlic? Rarely saw any before. What has happened ? Won't buy again.

I've bought Beach Road kubi since I moved to Hamilton in 2000....I used to buy it at Herbies Foods when it was delivered freshly smoked. Regardless of where I lived in Canada, Beach Road Kubi was a weekly purchase in my household, until this past fall (2020).
I don't know if it was Covid, a change in ownership, change in recipe or what, but in the last couple of months, the taste is completely awful and so much gristle that it's shamed by bargain-basement brands.

I am from east end Hamilton and have been eating your kielbasa for over 50 years. My father and Ted Sr. Knew each other.
What happened?
I purchased a piece from Sobeys and it was awful. No smoky taste, hard grizzle. I ended up feeding it to my dogs.
New owners??

Iv'e been eating your kielbasa since the early 60s and loving it. Never had a piese that I could say was not up to standard I think it is the best that can be bought It was a great day when we could by it in the grocery stores with the same quality as ever. Just thinking about it makes me feel old it dosent seem that long ago. Would the owners of that time have past away by now? Keep up the great work & be proud

I have been going to Beach Road Meats to get the kielbasa for 50 years. It was the best kielbasa around. Recently the store on Locke St. in Hamilton has closed and they are now just selling prepackaged 500 gram packs. The big change is now there is all sorts of fat inside the roll. For the price they charge it is no way worth it for what you are purchasing. The product has gone downhill tremendously from a quality product I would drive from Guelph to Hamilton to purchace and now I would not even buy it from the supermarket that sells it.
