My husband and I made the mistake of eating at the York Buffet on Friday evening around 6pm. The place was very empty with about 25 people in the entire restaurant on a usually busy evening at other restaurants in the Robinson Mall area.
The food was just horrible. The crab legs were overcooked, tasted old, like they were cooked in old bay seasoning (probably to cover up that they were not fresh). The claw meat was a dark grey color. We love crab legs but they just did not taste right but I still ate some although my husband after trying one crab leg would not eat more because it just did not taste right. We both took a couple of the large shrimp with the heads on and they were so soft and slimy we could not eat them. He turned over the cheese spinach and it resisted gravity and stayed firmly stuck together. The crab dragoon was stale and I mean stale. The veggie rolls were stale and so dried out I could not bite into it so I had to tear it apart with fingers and fork to get inside it which was even a worse mistake. Granted the food selection and appearance was impressive but looks can be deceiving as in this case. The food must have sat there for hours or maybe even days. When my husband told two of the staff stirring the food at the buffet that the food was mostly old and dried out they just smiled at him and giggled.
About 2 hours after arriving home my stomach started to gurgle and followed by cramping and nausea. I then began to vomit up undigested food it became apparent to me that I had some sort of food poisoning. I vomited for several hours and around 2am my urine smelled very bad and was the color of mud. I tried to reach the County Health Dept on Saturday but since it is a weekend I will have to wait until Monday. I am starting to feel a little better but it was quite a bad experience.
Heed my warning and please take my advice. Old food, terrible seasoning and a supposedly dumb, like a fox, serving staff.

I visited on thursday 9/19/2013. My first visit. I have lived in japan. This was authentic,fresh,quality buffet. The sushi was so good. They have raw oysters and LARGE peal n eat shrimp. Crab legs,large ones and not water soaked like most places. The wait staff was very eager to please. Everything was spotless. Very clean. If you can't find it,they will make it special for you. What a great experience. Best i have had in the states.
