I found a cool spot to take the dogs for lunch by Hickory Run State Park. The patio in the back had a nice gazebo and the waitstaff were really friendly, even bringing hot dogs for our pets. The homemade food at Pappy's Schoolhouse was delicious, especially the brisket sandwich served with house-made barbeque sauce. The staff went above and beyond, giving us free dessert to make up for a small kitchen mix-up. It's a local gem near Beltzville Lake with pet-friendly outdoor seating and great beer selection. The 5 Alarm perogies were a standout, and my chicken cheese steak was one of the best I've had. We'll definitely be back whenever we're in Jim Thorpe.
