This Napolitano-style eatery offers the South Mountain Phoenix Area exceptional quality Italian eats by the owner's exceptional knowledge and heritage, a majestic imported wood burning oven, and using both imported Italian and locally harvested products! This bistro brings the old world feel of Salerno with a modern twist as an Arizonian atmosphere - nice! The food and attention are fantastic. On a busy Friday early evening, Don Josepi (Joe), as both Manager and Bartender extraordinaire, was both gracious and friendly. Our evening's try included a start with a local Pinot Grigio for my wife and an Italian Peroni Ale on tap for me! We both shared a Costiera Salad with Baby spinach, imported tuna, green beans, cherry tomatoes, mozzarella and basil with just the perfect amount red wine dressing, that ended up being, for me, probably one of the best salads I have experienced in the Valley of the Sun. As main courses, I had their fantastic and really huge Calzone Vesuvio which consisted of perfect pizza dough with incredible Mortadella, mozzarella and tomato sauce. My wife enjoyed the mouthwatering homemade Lasagna with meat sauce, ricotta, mozzarella and parmigiano. Wrapping up the culinary extravaganza was their delectable Tiramisí¹ with Ladyfingers, espresso, mascarpone cream and cocoa -WOW! To finish, I had a very, very good Cappuccino, which they bring beans in from Oregon's Caffe D'arte (Italian-style coffee roasters), and she had a Sambuca, with the traditional coffee beans floating. Needless to say, we have found our go-to neighborhood Italian Bistro. As said by true Italians, this is the place to Mangiare!
