I have lived in Cave Creek for 45 years. My family has been supporting El Encanto since they opened.
Over the years we have brought 4 generations of siblings, sons, daughters, grandparents, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews there, to enjoy the pond, music, food and atmosphere. Not to mention all of our out of town guests, and friends around the valley.
During Covid, we continued support by getting take out regularly.
It was a no brainer when I made the decision to hold a surprise 75th birthday party for a good friend of mine there.
I called to make a reservation (not knowing if they would take one), but they did.
For 20 people.
I was specifically told we would be outside and that they would put tables together.
Sounded great!
They took my name and number. They also told me they would only hold the tables for 15 minutes.
Fair enough.
The night of the party I decided to go early to meet the guests who were scheduled to come a half hour before the bday girl. (20 people from all around the valley). And also to speak to the staff before our celebration, just to make sure it would be a successful night.
Imagine my surprise when I arrived only to find that the restaurant was closed! Signs posted on the gates that the A/C was out.
Ok, I totally understand why they had to close.
What I don't understand, is how they could ignore the fact that there was a party of 20 on their schedule for that night.
And, on their way.
I panicked, because I had 15 minutes to find somewhere to reroute all the people for dinner.
Just finding reservations for 2 on a weekend is hard"¦
Try 20!
I hoped not only that I could find a place, but that I'd be able to contact everyone before they arrived at the closed venue.
It was a nightmare! And, a surprise party.
But the surprise was on me.
I emailed El Encanto the next week. I wanted to let them know of my disappointment. I fully expected that they would respond and at least apologize.
It's been a couple weeks now, I've heard nothing.
I gave this place 5 stars for decades.
This current situation I have experienced though,
is completely unprofessional and shows a total lack of respect for customers. New or old.
Shame on El Encanto.
