I enjoy spending time in the backyard with a refreshing drink and attending the regular events held at this establishment. My family stumbled upon this charming spot during a Saturday evening stroll in Rockaway. The cozy ambiance, delicious food, and accommodating staff made our visit a pleasant surprise.

As someone who has frequented Sayra's over the years and has always had an fantastic experience, after tonight I am more than disappointed with everything that happened.
We were sat at a dirty table and had to ask for it to be wiped down. We had to ask four times for the glass bottle of water to be left at the table. It seemed like one of the bussers-pretty sure she wasn't a server- had a group of people she knew there was and was extremely distracted by one of them (preseumably her boyfriend) who was very loud and drunk. We were given dirty silverware and plates.
The cook came out to the backyard where we were sitting and sat with this same group of people and proceeded to smoke weed and cigarettes. Our server went to another table to ask the ladies sitting there what they had ordered and then had to go back to where the cook was sitting to tell him to make their order. I've worked in restaurants for years, as customers we shouldn't have witnessed this. The cook goes back to the kitchen and at this point we've decided to leave. We go inside to ask for the check, only to see him making our cheese boards after witnessing him smoking. The cook also wasn't wearing a mask while preparing our food which is unacceptable in a pandemic. It was gross enough to make us leave. We also waited over an hour for two cheese boards.
Our server did try to apologize while we were still at the table after we asked for clean silverware and plates. We did appreciate that but after we got our check she asked us why we're leaving and started to get defensive about our complaints and we stopped telling her what had happened.
It sad to see what this place has turned into especially considering the woman who usually runs it (I think her name is Rashida) was always so lovely and accommodating. The place seemed to be run by children.
