Tourists from Vancouver, Canada....we were told of the 2 cafes vying for the title of "best Beignets", by a fellow traveller on our flight to NOLA. We tried Cafe Beignet first, and thought their beignets were pretty good. We also had some gumbo & an omelette (which were just okay, hence the 4-star rating). Then we tried Cafe du Monde's beignets, and were not nearly as impressed. Cafe Beignet's beignets were 1) alot bigger, 2) alot crispier, 3) alot lighter & fluffy. So, as beignet newbies, our vote goes to Cafe Beignet for the best beignets hands down! If only they sold their beignet mix too! We had to settle for Cafe du Monde's beignet mix though, because we just had to be able to make some when we got home! Hopefully, the next time we visit NOLA, Cafe Beignet will have a beignet mix to sell to the public!
